Look at al the consultants on here, they've been maintainining for years. It's definitely doable, you just need to keep an eye on what you eat. Eventually we'll learn to make the right choices without having to stop & think!

Cambridge is pretty similar to other VLCDs like Lipotrim which you do at the pharmacy. Hardly the place you'd expect to find a dangerous fad diet is it!
Cambridge has been going since the 80's and if it really were that dangerous then surely it would have been banned by now? Instead guidance has been issued by NICE. Would NICE issue GUIDANCE rather than recomending that it be banned?
Lastly, Cambridge is fab because it has a structured programme to reintroduce food, educate the dieter on what and how much to eat. I didn't do that programme when I got to goal before because I was a victim of my own success. How could I have a problem with food when I'd successfully lost over 8 stone (not all on Cambridge) so why bother with stabilisation? My mistake and not one I'm making this time!
I think the thing is that Cambridge really does suffer as a result of its success. We who have done one of the SS programmes bang on about how good they are with very little mention of the other 5 plans! Especially as we feel we have to justify going against conventional wisdom and do something seen as extreme.
I would suggest that so many people find that they are able to lose so much more weight on Cambridge and crow about it that when they stop, people realise more so that the weight has gone back on and blame the diet rather than the fact that the person didn't do stabilisation or maintainance with the same diligence as the diet.
Losing the weight on Cambridge doesn't make you more likely to gain back your weight than had you lost the weight any other way. Edited by Joys mum - 22 Jul 2010 at 3:32pm |

this diet needs to be shown on tv as it is now with all the people that have reached goal and maintained
it deffo needs some good press its the only diet i can find that has a maintanence program after youv reached goal ...team cd

It is hard to think of counter-arguments though when you are in the middle of a situation. Plus feeling can run high as I know I was very defensive about Cambridge and others were very defensive about their chosen route and somehow not agreeing with someone that their way is right for you means you are somehow suggesting it is wrong for them too.
It's very hard when we choose to go against accepted regular wisdom of 1-2lbs a week weightloss.

For people who havent done it, it is hard to understand. Its hard to tell people how the CD changes your taste buds and most importantly changes your view towards food!

Because they are ignorant and that causes fear. Thier upbringing probably consisted of 3 hearty meals a day oat set times or one might die of starvation/malnutrition. They probably havent been in the position of being overweight to the point it affects every part of their being like i have.
Lots of other reasons too - such as CD goes against all popular methods od diet plans that are advertised in the media and are familiar to them
Just ignorance and that would take someone far better than i to change them. People have to be ready and ask the right questions and have the right atitude for themselves. IMO. Like it or lump it lol Edited by LOVING SOLE SOURCE! - 28 Jul 2010 at 1:11pm |

this diet has certainly opened my eyes. It is not starvation as some would have it, the body is receiving it's daily requirement of nutrients which most people who eat regularly don't
I have been bored by it from time to time - but the effects are well and truly showing and I've never felt better as a result.
